Social Activities

There are various social activities throughout the year including a B.B.Q., our annual trip to Walton-on-the-Naze, trips to a pantomime, the cinema, afternoon tea on the Vicarage lawn and a Harvest supper.

Spiritual Growth

We have well attended Lent & Advent courses looking at various topics from prayer to the questions and challenges which face us every day.

We have Confirmation and First Communion Classes.

Being part of an Ecumenical Partnership also offers us the opportunity to develop and enrich our Sunday services.

Parent & Toddler Group

This group meets each Wednesday, in term time at 10.30am.

We have babies as well as toddlers at the service. We begin with a bible story and songs, the children then make something (with lots of help!), we have more songs and musical instruments followed by prayers and 'sweetie time'. The parents then have a chat over coffee while the children play.

If you would like to come along then just turn up on the day, we would love to welcome you.

Sunday School

The children gather with the adults in church, we have a children's talk before our 'sending out' prayer. They then go across to the Bishops' School with their teachers. They rejoin us later in the service to share with us all they have learned during their session.

The first Sunday of the month is All Age Worship and the children remain in church for all of the service and take an active role in it.

Rock Solid

This Friday evening meeting is for our young people age 11+. The emphasis is on youth worship and includes drama, art, dance, music, prayer and outdoor activites during the summer.

Men's Group

We have a small men's group which is co-ordinated by our male Reader, Andrew.

The group meets in various venues from the brewery to an Indian restaurant!

Evergreens

We meet on the second monday of the month from 12.30 - 2.30pm in the small hall.

We are a group for retired people with lunch and a guest speaker.

Craft Club

We meet in the run up to the Christmas fair and make items including cross stitch, cards and fancy goods to sell for fund raising. It is a social club and we have a light lunch and chat as we 'create'!

Community Groups

St. Augustine's is also used during the week by various groups from the community including Beavers, Bridge, Rosemary Conley, the University of the Third Age (a discussion group for older members of the community).

The small and large halls may also be hired for children's parties and baptism teas.

If you would like more information or just a chat do not hesitate to ring Jane on 01245 466160.
